Bay Modeling

Edward S. Gross

Dr. Gross develops and applies state-of-the-art numerical methods for simulations of environmental fluid dynamics. He has developed and applied state-of-the-art numerical methods for simulations of environmental fluid dynamics. Numerical methods and models developed by Dr. Gross, including include several two and three-dimensional hydrodynamic models, a three-dimensional particle tracking model and turbulence closure models, are currently used in several consulting and research projects. He has applied models extensively in the coastal ocean, estuaries and rivers, and has validated models with highly detailed hydrodynamic data. Dr. Gross has also developed innovative software tools for coupling of hydrodynamic models and analysis of transport processes. He is recognized as an expert in estuarine physics and transport processes, particularly in the San Francisco Estuary, and frequently participates in science review panels. Dr. Gross often collaborates with faculty and researchers at Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology and other universities and research institutes.
